The Powerful Impact of Loneliness and Isolation for Older Men and Women
Feeling lonely or cut off from others can shorten your life. A Norwegian study with 20 year follow-up data found that older adults who were socially isolated faced up to 16% higher risk of dying early. For men, even admitting to feeling lonely was linked to greater risk. Staying connected—especially with close family—can be a powerful key to longer life.
